We're packing our bags for a tropical wellness vacation in Kauai, Hawaii, and you're invited! Nicknamed the "Garden Isle" for the lush rainforest covering much of the island, Kauai is known for coastal cliffs, world-class hiking and stunning waterfalls. Led by Coach Beth Roberts, this week-long retreat will combine daily workouts in paradise with authentic cultural experiences. Join us for the ultimate balance of fitness, adventure and relaxation - and leave the planning to us!
Fitness:
This all-levels fitness retreat will incorporate a variety of workouts ranging from strength training to conditioning to restorative stretching. Coach Beth Roberts will start each day with a higher-intensity class targeting the whole body and invigorating the group for the day ahead. Then a second afternoon / early evening classes will be on the more restorative side with emphasis on core work and stretching.
Adventure:
​When in Kauai, one must explore! As part of the program, we are excited to share new places and experiences with you on land and water. We've got an exciting hike planned as well as an excursion combining another hike with kayaking along the Wailua River to visit the sacred waterfalls! Plus, we will experience a traditional luau complete with food, music and hula dancing.

Relaxation:
​In between the programmed activities of this retreat, you will have time to enjoy the Hawaiian sunshine and fresh air! Our resort is right on the beach and has a variety of local activities like ukulele lessons, Hawaiian language class, fresh flower lei making, and more!
The Accommodations
We are staying at the Kauai Beach Resort, a postcard-looking paradise on the beach with swaying palm trees and clear blue water. This quaint plantation-style resort is situated on 25 green acres along Kauai's shore with four swimming pools, a full-service spa and delicious dining. Rise each day to a beautiful sunrise, and end it by an open bonfire! Situated in an idyllic setting, the charming guest rooms offer peace between your island adventures. All accommodations offer a private lanai (balcony) and WiFi internet access.

The resort's restaurants offer local specialties like fresh catch of the day, poke bowls, ono (Hawaiian BBQ), and more. You can dine under the Hawaiian sun, by tiki torch, or by candlelight in their on-site restaurants. Other amenities include the four pools (lagoon-style with waterfalls!), a full-service luxury spa, a casual beach bar, and complimentary cultural activities and classes.

 
Retreat Itinerary
Day 1:
Welcome to Hawaii! Guests will arrive in the early afternoon and take a complimentary shuttle to the hotel. After checking in and getting settled, we will meet for introductions and a stretch class to move our bodies after a day of travel. In the evening, we will reconvene for a group dinner where we will continue to get to know each other.

Day 2:
Wake up in paradise and enjoy a morning workout and freshly-prepared breakfast. We'll follow with a nourishing breakfast and our first group activity, an invigorating hike. Upon our return, the afternoon is yours to relax and enjoy the beach and pools. We will come back together for our second class in the early evening, a more restorative class after the day's adventure. Free night!

Day 3:
Good morning from Kauai! Our morning class will wake us up and prepare us for our first free day! After breakfast, enjoy your time however you'd like: sign up for an extra excursion, book a spa treatment, read a book by the pool, or dig your toes in the sandy beach. We will reconvene in the late afternoon to chat about our day and enjoy a second class with Coach Beth. Then we will continue on to a fresh, island-inspired group dinner (included) at the resort.

Day 4:
This morning we'll kick things off with an invigorating workout followed by a fueling breakfast. Then we'll enjoy some free time before getting picked up in the late morning for an adventurous day of hiking and kayaking on the Wailua River to the sacred waterfalls! We'll have an optional evening stretch and then a free night to explore, go for dinner where you choose, or have a relaxing night in the room.

Day 5:
Wake up to a fresh coastal breeze and an invigorating workout with Beth! We'll enjoy breakfast and free time to explore or relax at the resort (or sign up for an extra activity or excursion!). In the early afternoon,, you have the option to join a workshop to create your own Hawaiian wooden earrings - the ultimate homemade souvenir! Just before sunset, we'll have a second class of the day and then we'll enjoy a night to explore on your own or with the group.

Day 6:
This morning we will have an oceanfront workout and breakfast, and then an optional lei-making workshop using fresh flowers. The afternoon will be free! Enjoy the resort's beautiful amenities, treat yourself to a spa treatment (extra cost) or simply relax under a palm tree. In the late afternoon, we will be picked up for a traditional luau complete with hula dancing, exciting performances, music, and a delicious meal - truly a night to remember!

Day 7:
On our last morning of the retreat, we'll jump to it with a morning workout and breakfast. We'll pack our bags and head to the airport for goodbyes feeling strong and refreshed!

Enjoy the sun, sand, fitness, and fun on this 6-day wellness-minded getaway! We'll work out our bodies and minds while focusing on specific intentions we set on day one. Throughout the week we will check in on those intentions in workouts, meditations, and exciting activities like zip-lining and surfing. Join Coaches Beth and Sallie and a group of like-minded travelers for the right balance of fitness, adventure, and relaxation!

Fitness
Each day of the retreat will combine total-body workouts and yoga classes led by our two instructors, Beth Roberts and Sallie Schullinger-Krause. Typically our morning workout will be more intensive (interval training, cardio, power yoga) and our afternoon session will be lower impact (stretching, core, restorative flows). The daily classes are meant to challenge and motivate you, while being accessible to all fitness levels and utilizing the natural environment as the gym!

Adventure
In addition to our daily workouts and yoga classes, we'll enjoy a variety of exciting activities! We'll have an all-levels surf lesson and an afternoon/sunset catamaran sailing cruise where we have the choice of relaxing on board with open bar or snorkeling in the ocean and watching for whales and dolphins. Prefer to stay back? No problem - all activities are optional!
Relaxation
In between activities and workouts will be plenty of free time to relax, reflect, or sign up for additional activities, massages or excursions. Our resort is right on the beach and has beautiful pools so free time is yours to cherish! And when you walk out of the hotel you're in the middle of a small town with lots of shops and restaurants to explore.
The Accommodations

Our home for the retreat is the iconic Tamarindo Diria resort, located in the heart of Tamarindo, a coastal town known for surfing, sunsets, and low-key beach vibes. The stunning property has a boutique-y vibe with lush grounds, 4-star accommodations, and a friendly, welcoming staff. There are three pools, including two with swim-up bars, a tennis court, and massage services. Plus, being right on the beach means you'll waste no time between a fresh and delicious breakfast and soaking up the morning sunshine. The best part? While the property is relaxing and peaceful, you are steps away from a safe local town with plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops to explore - the perfect vacation balance with something for everyone!


 
Retreat Itinerary
Tuesday, December 7:
Welcome to Costa Rica! Guests will arrive at the Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR) airport and take a provided shuttle to our resort, the Tamarindo Diria. We'll check in and then meet for introductions and a welcome stretch at sunset. Tonight's included dinner will be at a delicious restaurant in town!

Wednesday, December 8:
This morning we will kick things off with a beach boot camp followed by a nourishing breakfast overlooking the ocean waves. Our first full day will be free to get to know the town, soak up some sun and get to know the group. In the afternoon, we'll have a restorative yoga class and then enjoy a free afternoon and evening to relax and enjoy.

Thursday, December 9:
Morning yoga flow + breakfast. In the early afternoon we'll head down the beach for a surf lesson where all levels are welcome and encouraged to join the fun and ride the waves! In the afternoon around 3:30, we'll come together for a core and myofascial release class and then will have time to relax a bit before sunset. Tonight is yours to try another delicious local restaurant or check out the excitement at the Thursday Night Market.

Friday, December 10:
High-intensity morning workout + breakfast. Then enjoy a free day to explore the surrounding town of Tamarindo, go on an adventure to another beach, or sign up for an additional activity like horseback riding.We will come back together at 3:30 for a combo of yin and hip opening in addition to a special activity with journaling and meditation. The evening is free with an option to go salsa dancing!

Saturday, December 11:
The two Coaches will team teach a boot camp and flow combo class in the morning followed by breakfast. Then we'll have a few hours to relax or visit the local farmer's market and then head down the beach to meet our catamaran for an afternoon sail! We'll ride out into the ocean, hopefully catching a glimpse of some whales or dolphins, and then we'll have time to jump in the water for snorkeling and swimming. We'll have lunch provided on the boat as well as open bar, and we will come back as the sun sets for a perfect view of the magic! Dinner will be included at a delicious restaurant.

Sunday, December 12:
On our final morning, we'll enjoy a 7AM moving meditation (beach walk) followed by a stretch on the beach and a final breakfast overlooking the ocean. We'll say goodbyes and depart for the airport.​

"This retreat was very well organized from shuttles, tours, workouts, and meals. The morning workouts were a great way to start my day with a variety of different exercises that were both challenging and fun. The breakfasts at the resort were delicious with a fabulous view. All of our tour excursions were well organized and unique with a workout at a local gym, a hike along the mountainside with ocean views, and a fun trip to a local beach with lots of activities. It was nice to have some things planned but also to have our own down time. Coach Beth is a great instructor and everyone can workout at their own comfort level. She mixes it up so that you get a full body workout and then a nice relaxing restorative stretch. It is also great to meet new people from all over the country that share the love of travel and working out. I would say this retreat is a great mix of health, fitness, sun and fun!"

I’ve attended 2 of Beth’s (Killington Boot Camp) / Ketanga Fitness’ international retreats and both were great all around! Barbados was the last one I attended. The schedule was flexible for each individual to participate or not with the daily workouts! The workouts are in the morning and late afternoon so adding in some touristy activities or just pool/beach time is easy! Beth works with the natural structures of each destination and brings her own tools as well, making it super fun while getting a workout in daily! Loved it!! Will def attend another!"
